The Coventry and Warwickshire Sign Language Interpreting Service (CWSLIS) was established in 1992 to work with the Deaf community in Coventry and Warwickshire. Today CWSLIS continues to provide a high quality, cost efficient service to the Deaf and Deafened community, service providers, and businesses throughout the local areas.
We are an independent non-profit making service originally created as a result of a partnership between Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and the Coventry and Warwickshire Association for the Deaf.
Our interpreting staff team are all Registered Qualified Interpreters and have a wealth of experience in a variety of domains including doctors, hospitals, meetings, schools, conferences, training, religious occasions, theatre – to name just a few.
All interpreters booked by CWSLIS will be professional, confidential and registered with the National Registers of Communication Professionals Working with Deaf and Deaf-Blind People (NRCPD), who are the national registration body for sign language interpreters. We are also a member of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI).
We offer very competitive rates, and if the booking comes under one of our four funding bodies, there may be no charge.
We also provide Deaf Awareness training, please contact us for more details.
We have service level agreements with Warwickshire County Council, Coventry NHS and Warwickshire NHS.
We can also operate as a interpreting agency to other organisations.
